The young Duke, after banishing his older brother, the old Duke, decides to banish his niece Rosalinde, the daughter of the old Duke. 

But Celia, the young Duke's daughter considers herself the sister of Rosalinde, the old Duke's daughter. Both of them 

so decide to run away into the forest, looking for the old Duke. As they are pursued

by the young Duke, Rosalinde, the daughter of the old Duke, disguises herself as a man, and Celia, the daughter of the young Duke, as a shepherdess.

 The old Duke, the young Duke, the old Duke's daughter, the young Duke's daughter, the old Duke's friends, the young Duke's friends,

 all of this little world meet  so in the Ardennes forest!
